Wild Things
S. and I saw Where the Wild Things are in Cobble Hill yesterday. For anyone who wants to see it, go late at night. We did not do this and were surrounded by small children that were way to young for the movie.
I really liked it. I cried a lot when I was watching it. Anytime I see a kid crying in a movie I just automatically cry, it just happens.
In other news, my mom turns 51 today! Go mom! Let's do a little "love train" for her.
love you mom! I can see you wearing the blue and orange bellbottoms (one minute in).

Nachos and Becca Stevens

After a great hot chocolate and nacho snack break with my friend Soo (I love hanging out with pregnant women, they let you eat the craziest stuff), I met up with S. at 55 Bar to see his friend Becca Stevens play. Becca is a very beautiful and talented singer-songwriter. I'm not very good at describing music (I'll leave that to my better half) so just know that it was really great set and you should listen to her music and then go see a show. I think her next show is at Rockwood Music Hall in early November.
She also likes Blame it on the Boogie by Jackson Five. This is how I know we are kindred spirits.

Souuuuuul Train
This is for my mom. I don't think there is a youtube clip that could represent her more.

the return of don draper

S. and I went over to Katie's to catch up on Mad Men last night. We finally finished season two a week or so ago. Lucky us that season three had already started.
In kind-of-related news, last sunday at Emily and Vic's soup night, a group of friends were talking about how to step their clothing game up. I've been looking at my closet lately and getting sad, maybe its the bad lighting or maybe I need a new mini-makeover. Is there a better muse for me than Joan?

I love-
pencil skirts
dresses that show off some shape
jewel tones
a little bit of bling
hair that requires hot rollers
pretty shoes (this one will have to wait until after the boot comes off)
something to think about.

S's Birthday...a day of magic
S's rung in his 27th year by taking care of me after a very wild bachelorette party for Ms. Alison Benett. There will be no pictures of that night on this blog. He was pretty annoyed because he was afraid that I would be too-ahem-tired to be able to truly celebrate his birthday.
Birthday miracle number one: I was fine! Bright eyed and bushy tailed in time for a breakfast of farmer's market bacon, eggs, and waffles. Notice my breakfast drink...

After breakfast we went to Variety for iced coffee and a couple hands of rummy. Miracle number two! I was winning when we were done! Even though I was still a little "tired."
Then we wend to the Grizzly Bear concert. I donned my biggest pair of sunglasses and we got a place in a comically long line for the pool party. The pool party, for all of those non-Williamsburgers, is an event held every Sunday during the summer with bands, basketball, volleyball, beer and tons and tons of twenty somethings wearing junky looking clothes that are actually hundreds of dollars. We met up with Jake, Robin, and Australian friends and braced ourselves for what was sure to be a super long wait.

Miracle number three! We only waited and hour! And because of the company, it seemed like no time at all. Well for us at least.
Miracle number four! Ryan, Emily and Sarah were able to make it in even though the concert was at capacity. I don't want to know how they got in, but I'm glad they did especially since I wouldn't want them to miss the greatest miracle of all:
BEYONCE WAS THERE AND I SAW HER!!! FOR REAL. BEYONCE. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. I tried to get up close but no one would let me through. Beyonce loves grizzly bear.
So many miracles, S should be up for sainthood or something.

September...

is my favorite month. First because my birthday is on the 22nd. What can I say? I love my birthday! Some of my favorite people are born in September as well...my brother Gabe, Emily, Caitlin, Beyonce. S.'s birthday is August 30th, which is close enough to count.
I like how the air is already feeling different. We had a really hot muggy summer (well a cold, rainy summer that turned into a hot muggy summer) so I'm really happy to be experiencing my favorite kind of weather. Sunny mornings, warm breezy afternoons and cozy nights.
I joke with S. that I always wait for the beginning of the week (which is Monday in my mind) before I make any changes in my life. Its really an excuse to act like a hedonist for the weekend, knowing that I'll be good starting on Monday. I'm already putting together a mental list of things I want to change for fall. More time with friends, spend some time in the studio that S. and I put together. Fix up the house. Write more, now that I know people actually read this blog! Don't you love resolutions?
I've been taking a lot of pictures of adventures that took place in August so I'll be putting them up soon. That is, until I have some fall adventures to share.
